Confinement, Yong Look Kim-Lambert

Korean Artists Society of Canada is holding a 29th annual exhibition from October 21st to November2nd 2020. The show was planned at the Papermill Gallery in Toronto but the Covid pendemic forced the show to move online.

The theme ‘The Natural Environment’ is relevant to all generations currently as one of the most sensitive and compelling topics. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing protocols, something we can do as artists is to express our reflection and thoughts with artworks.

Artist Statement

In this painting, the figure sits alone on black circle that calls to mine the deteriorating environment both physical and social.

The lives of human being are dependent on the well being of the environment and the COVID 19 confinement made me reconsider how closely intertwined we all are with one and other and with mother nature.

As we all look forward to resuming “normal” life, I hope that we can collectively put to good use our individual refections and work toward a better world for all.
